Scientists devise method of re-sensitizing certain bacteria to antibiotics

The Wall Street Journal (1/17, D4, Lukits, Subscription Publication) reports that according to a study published in the journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Israeli scientists have devised a way to make antibiotic-resistant bacteria sensitive to antibiotics again. Utilizing bacteriophages in a lysogenization process, researchers were able to make resistant E. coli bacteria sensitive once more to nalidixic acid and streptomycin.
